OnePlus has announced the launch of ‘OnePlus AI,’ a new brand name that encompasses AI features on its smartphones. In conjunction with this announcement, the company revealed that select OnePlus applications will soon integrate deeply with Google’s artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini. This move aligns OnePlus with other leading companies, such as Samsung and Xiaomi, both of which have incorporated Gemini in their recent smartphone offerings.

The upcoming integration will affect various OnePlus apps, particularly those within the OxygenOS ecosystem. Notable apps like OnePlus Notes and Clock will see enhanced functionality through Gemini. During their media briefing, representatives from OnePlus showcased some practical applications of this technology.

Users will be able to have Gemini summarize recipes from YouTube videos into notes or set alarms based on calendar events with simple voice commands. While these features may appear modest, the deeper integration is expected to significantly enhance user experience by enabling Gemini to understand and execute commands effectively. In addition to the Gemini integration, OnePlus is also working on a suite of tools under the OnePlus AI brand.

This collection will feature innovative functionalities such as AI VoiceScribe, AI Call Assistant, AI Translation, AI Search, AI Reframe, and the upgraded AI Best Face 2.0. The first smartphone to receive these AI enhancements, including deep Gemini integration, will be the new OnePlus 13s. However, it remains unclear when or if these features will be made available for older OnePlus devices.

Other smartphone brands like HONOR and OPPO are also expected to follow suit, integrating Gemini into their native applications soon.
