A recent report indicates that Samsung is preparing to launch the One UI 8 Beta update, based on Android 16, during the third week of May. As the launch approaches, numerous leaks have emerged showcasing the features that this significant UI update is expected to introduce. If these leaks are accurate, One UI 8 will prioritize enhanced security compared to its predecessor, One UI 7, which faced challenges upon release. Earlier leaks hinted that One UI 8 will address a significant security vulnerability associated with the Secure Folder feature.

Recently, a tipster on X revealed that One UI 8 will introduce a Private Album functionality within the Samsung Gallery application. This enhancement aims to offer users a more secure way to manage their photos and videos. The newly launched Private Album feature appears to function similarly to Samsung’s Secure Folder but will specifically cater to images and videos. Unlike Secure Folder, which may be cumbersome for some users, the Private Album will be conveniently accessible within the Gallery app.

It is speculated that Samsung could implement this feature using Android’s Private Space API, a tool that Google introduced last year, making it user-friendly and secure. In addition to the Private Album, Samsung is also set to improve the Secure Folder in One UI 8. The update will utilize Google’s Private Spaces API, replacing the previous Work Profiles method that proved vulnerable in One UI 7. This change aims to correct issues that exposed users’ media files to other applications.

Although these files were only visible to individuals with physical access to the device, addressing this flaw is crucial for user security. Further details about Samsung’s upcoming UI update will likely emerge in the coming days. Stay tuned for regular updates regarding One UI 8 and its features.
