Motorola is expanding its rollout of Android 15 to the Razr Plus 2024 in the United States. After a limited release last month, the update became widely available on May 2, meaning most users should have access to it by now. The update is approximately 2GB in size, so it’s advisable to ensure sufficient storage space before downloading. To check for the update, users can navigate to the Settings app, scroll to Software Update, and select Check for Update.
You may have already received a notification indicating that the update is available for download. Compared to last year’s Razr Plus 2023, the rollout for the 2024 model is notably faster. The previous version received Android 14 as late as July 2024, a full ten months after Google released the update. Android 15 for the 2023 model was also delayed, surprisingly coming out after the 2024 model’s initial release.
The quicker rollout for the Razr Plus 2024, occurring about two months after Android 15’s official launch, is a positive step forward for Motorola. Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement. Faster updates are crucial not only for user satisfaction but also to keep pace with competitors like Samsung, which has faced significant criticism for its delayed One UI 7 rollout. While Motorola currently promises three years of updates and four years of security patches, this falls short of the seven years offered by brands like Google and Samsung.
In related news, the new Motorola Razr 2025 is expected to start pre-orders later this week, coinciding with the ongoing updates for the Razr Plus 2024 to Android 15.
