Google has a well-established track record of incorporating features from other applications into its own suite of tools. Recently, the tech giant appears to be drawing inspiration from Pinterest, an app that allows users to discover and save images based on their interests.
Many people turn to Pinterest for inspiration, curating boards on topics such as home decor and arts and crafts, making it a rich source for creative ideas. Google is reportedly developing a similar image board feature within its Google app.
Initially reported by The Information prior to the Google I/O 2025 event, there was no mention of this feature during the conference. Nevertheless, Google is still believed to be actively refining it, with visible evidence of its design now emerging.
This new Pinterest-like feature in Google consists of a personalized content feed that pulls images based on topics selected by the user. Users are required to pick at least three topics from a diverse array, which includes categories such as fashion for both men and women, travel, food and drink, home decor, DIY crafts, and makeup.
Some sources have indicated that this feature is “still very much a work in progress,” suggesting potential changes before its official rollout. An integral aspect of this feature is its simplicity in saving and sharing images.
By simply long-pressing on an image, users can save it to their personal boards or share it through social media or messaging platforms. Additionally, users can conduct a Google Lens search for images they wish to explore further.
They also have the option to remove images they don’t find appealing from their boards. While the exact release date for this feature remains unclear, its current development status suggests that it may be available later this year.
