Editing photos in your gallery is generally straightforward, but creating and managing a shared photo album on Google Photos can be a bit more complicated. Fortunately, Google is addressing this issue with a recent update that allows users to edit their shared photos directly on Android devices.

Now, as announced by Google, users can edit their own photos and videos within a shared album. These edits will be saved both to their personal gallery and the shared album.

It’s important to note that only the owner of a photo can make edits; changes made to shared photos will also appear in the album. If a user wants to keep their edits private, they should select “Save as copy” after making changes.

Previously, if a photo was added to a shared album, it could not be edited, which made using Google Photos frustrating for many. This feature means that while contributing to a family album, for instance, users can only edit images they uploaded themselves.

They will not have the ability to modify photos added by other members of the shared album. It is also worth mentioning that this editing option was already available on the web version of Google Photos and for users on iOS and iPadOS devices.

In addition to this new editing feature, Google has implemented other updates to Google Photos. Recently, they introduced a quick editing option for photos prior to sharing and launched an Ultra HDR tool that enhances older photos, making them appear more vibrant and saturated.

These improvements aim to enhance user experience and functionality within the platform.
