Have you ever wanted to gather more information about something displayed on your smartphone screen? Google’s Circle to Search feature aims to assist with that.

Launched last year, this AI-driven tool has proven to be quite beneficial, although there’s always room for improvement. Recent reports indicate that Google is exploring new layouts for this feature.

According to a report from Android Authority, two distinct layouts for Circle to Search are currently being tested. One layout, shared by user @brokenthrone in a Telegram group, replaces the elongated Google search bar with a compact rectangular box featuring rounded corners.

This design maintains buttons and text but eliminates visual separators, resulting in a more streamlined appearance. Notably, this layout includes both light and dark modes.

The second layout maintains the traditional long search bar but makes alterations by dividing it into two rows. The upper row retains the search bar, while the lower row includes buttons for “Song search” and “Translate.” These new designs provide a fresh look compared to the existing version.

The layout shared on Telegram appears to embrace a more significant design shift, while the second version merely rearranges elements from the current interface. It is essential to note that these layouts are experimental, and Google may revert to the original design based on user feedback.

The company frequently tests new layouts and user interfaces to determine the best design for user experience. Although the current version of Circle to Search functions adequately, these updates might hint at upcoming changes related to Google’s new Material Design 3 Expressive that could be revealed at the upcoming I/O 2025 event.
