Samsung is gearing up for the release of its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, anticipated in the latter half of 2026. Initial leaks suggested a conservative approach for these new models compared to the current Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. However, recent reports indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may feature an upgrade in battery capacity.

One of the significant hurdles in creating foldable phones is accommodating the battery within the slim design. The limited internal space when the device is unfolded necessitates the use of smaller battery cells. While some competitors have creatively integrated larger batteries into similar devices, Samsung has previously struggled in this area.

Fortunately, improvements are expected with the Z Flip 7. Recent findings from The Tech Outlook have confirmed the battery specifications for both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 through UL Demko certification listings. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is reportedly equipped with two cells, one at 2,126 mAh and another at 2,146 mAh, totaling 4,272 mAh.

Samsung is likely to market this as a 4,200 mAh battery, the same size as its predecessor. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s battery shows more promise with two cells of 1,189 mAh and 2,985 mAh, resulting in a total capacity of 4,174 mAh. It may be marketed as a 4,300 mAh battery, marking a notable upgrade from the 4,000 mAh battery found in the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Despite these enhancements, the larger battery does not guarantee improved battery life, especially with leaks suggesting that the Z Flip 7’s foldable screen could extend to 6.85 inches. This change will likely require additional power to maintain battery performance similar to the current model. A more efficient chip could also contribute to better battery management.

Unfortunately, both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 appear to be stuck at a maximum fast charging capability of 25W. Samsung has not advanced this feature, even with significant upgrades planned for its next foldable release, which may be a concern for potential buyers.
