Recently, a report revealed that Samsung plans to bypass One UI 7 Watch and go directly to One UI 8 Watch, introducing exciting features along with this update. Among the anticipated enhancements are new system sounds, an improved user interface, and the transition from Google Assistant to a new service called Gemini.

Furthermore, leaks suggest that the Samsung Health app in One UI 8 Watch may serve as a personalized nutrition guide, transforming the Galaxy Watch into a virtual nutritionist. In addition, a recent discovery from Android Authority has highlighted a promising feature that could be included in the Galaxy Watch series.

It appears that Samsung is developing a battery protection functionality aimed at enhancing battery longevity. According to the findings, early versions of One UI 8 Watch contain code that describes a feature designed to regulate charging based on specific battery levels.

The Battery app version 4.0.0.0.8 indicates that the watch will stop charging once it reaches a defined percentage and will resume charging when the battery drops below another set threshold. Most smartphones implement charging limits around 80 percent, but there might also be options for varied thresholds in Samsung’s new feature.

If implemented, this battery protection function could significantly improve the longevity of Galaxy Watch devices and is expected to be included in the upcoming One UI 8 update later this year. Interestingly, Google appears to be working on a similar feature for its Pixel Watch.

An APK teardown from February indicated that this watch may feature Adaptive Charging, which learns charging habits to optimize battery life. This functionality would ensure the watch is charged just before the user typically removes it from the charger.

While Google has not confirmed this feature, it could potentially be introduced sometime later this year.
