In recent years, the smart glasses market has seen gradual growth. While this segment remains largely niche, significant changes may be on the horizon with the entry of major technology players. Apple is one of the tech giants actively developing its version of smart glasses, reportedly focusing on creating custom chips for this endeavor.

Currently, the most recognized smart glasses belong to Meta, with their Ray-Ban collaboration capturing attention through a range of useful features, appealing design, and competitive pricing. Companies like Apple and Samsung are beginning to acknowledge the potential within this market. Samsung is expected to launch its own smart glasses sometime next year, further intensifying competition.

Apple’s upcoming smart glasses are set to include advanced features such as cameras, microphones, and artificial intelligence capabilities. According to reports, these functionalities will mirror those found in the existing Ray-Bans by Meta, enabling users to take photos, record videos, perform real-time translations, and interact with an AI assistant. Additionally, Apple may introduce an AI-driven Visual Intelligence feature, allowing users to receive descriptions and insights about their surroundings.

The design will reportedly support spatial video recording via multiple cameras, enhancing the user experience. The chips designed for these smart glasses will be akin to those used in Apple Watch devices, chosen specifically for their low power consumption—which is critical for wearable technology. Anticipation surrounds Apple’s launch of these smart glasses, projected for 2026 or 2027.

Apart from this product, the company is also advancing its XR headset projects. An affordable version of the Apple Vision Pro is in the works, alongside ongoing development of the Vision Pro 2, although this continues to face delays. The evolving landscape in the smart glasses sector could redefine how wearable technology integrates into daily life.
