Features come in various forms, from significant functionality improvements to minor enhancements that improve user experience. A notable example of such an enhancement is Google’s initiative to simplify sharing snippets from Gemini responses. Gemini occasionally generates AI responses that are too valuable to keep to oneself, prompting users to share their findings.
Currently, users can export the entire response as a DOC file or send it via email, making it relatively straightforward to disseminate information. However, there are instances when sharing just a portion of a response is more appropriate. At present, sharing snippets requires a series of steps: tapping the three-dot menu, selecting the *Select text* option, highlighting the desired text, and then copying it.
While this process isn’t overly complicated, it can become tedious, especially when users need to share multiple snippets in quick succession. The upcoming change promises to streamline this process significantly. Google’s updates to the Gemini app include introducing a function where users can simply tap and hold on to the text they wish to copy, allowing for an immediate highlight and copy action.
This approach aligns with standard practices in many other text-based applications. Interestingly, though this feature seems to be a straightforward addition, it was revealed only through an APK deep dive by *Android Authority*. As such, while the feature appears promising, there is no guarantee that it will be officially rolled out.
The widespread expectation is that this enhancement will arrive sooner rather than later, making text sharing a smoother and more efficient experience for all users of the Gemini app.
