In the upcoming months, Samsung is set to refresh its Galaxy Z series of foldable devices. A recent report indicates that the company may hold its second ‘Unpacked’ event of 2025 in early July. At this event, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, as well as showcase a device featuring a tri-fold display.
In addition to its flagship offerings, Samsung is reportedly eyeing the affordable foldable smartphone market. Rumors suggest that this budget-friendly device may be branded as the Galaxy Z Flip FE, or Fan Edition. However, there is also speculation that the company could name it the Galaxy Z Flip Xe.
Leaked information points to the upcoming affordable foldable phone carrying the model number SM-F761. This model has been listed by a carrier on their eSIM compatibility page, confirming its existence. Notably, Samsung seems to be adjusting its model naming conventions this year; the Galaxy Z Flip 6 was identified by the model number SM-F741, while the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to be named SM-F766.
Samsung appears to be contemplating the final name for its cost-effective foldable device, with indications pointing to both the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the Z Flip Xe. The GSMA database has also included the Galaxy Z Flip Xe since late last year, suggesting the company may be reconsidering its branding strategy for this more affordable option. Ultimately, it remains uncertain whether the Galaxy Z Flip Xe will officially be its name or if it’s merely a placeholder.
Furthermore, reports have mentioned a delay in the launch of this model, as Samsung aims to prioritize its standard foldables first. More updates are expected in the coming weeks.
