Samsung seems to have postponed the launch of its affordable foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip FE. Recent reports from South Korean media indicate that the company is prioritizing its flagship models, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, for which mass production of displays has already started. Consequently, the release of the Z Flip FE and Samsung’s first tri-fold phone is now anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Samsung intends to expand its foldable smartphone lineup this year, and in addition to the traditional book-style Z Fold and clamshell Z Flip models, it plans to introduce a tri-fold device similar to Huawei’s Mate X2. To cater to a broader audience, the company aims to launch a more budget-friendly option in the form of the Galaxy Z Flip FE, akin to the Fan Edition variants of its Galaxy S series. Earlier, it was believed that the Galaxy Z Flip FE would debut alongside the flagship models at the July Unpacked event.
However, a recent report from The Bell has confirmed that this launch has been delayed, though it does not specify the reason for the postponement. In the meantime, Samsung continues to focus on the production of its flagship foldable smartphones. Speculation regarding the Galaxy Z Flip FE suggests it could feature similar display technology to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, including a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 2600 nits.
The design may retain the hinge mechanism found in Z Flip 6, with enhanced durability from a flat Armor Aluminum Frame. It is expected to be powered by a slightly downgraded version of the Exynos 2500 chipset and offer a 50MP main camera, although information about additional sensors remains vague. As the launch approaches in late 2025, further details are likely to emerge.
