The April 2025 update for the Pixel Watch series is being rolled out, providing significant bug fixes and performance enhancements. This update ensures that all models, including the original Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3, are upgraded to the same software version.
While primarily a maintenance release, owners of the Pixel Watch 2 and 3 who use the Pixel 9 series will benefit from a new scam detection feature designed to alert users to suspicious calls. This update is based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15, and it mainly focuses on resolving existing bugs rather than introducing new features.
All six variants of the Pixel Watch will now operate under the same software version, BP1A.250305.019.W7, which consolidates the prior split rollout. Although the official changelog for this update is not yet available, Google has indicated that it will address issues such as notification delays and other lingering concerns.
For users who haven’t received the update automatically, there are ways to expedite the process. Simply repeatedly tap “Your watch is up to date” in the Settings menu under System updates, or temporarily disable Bluetooth to prompt a Wi-Fi download.
For those interested, OTA images are also accessible for manual installation. While the update heavily centers on bug fixes, it does introduce the scam detection tool for Pixel Watch 2 and 3 users paired with the Pixel 9 series.
This feature can identify suspicious calls and notify users accordingly. Unfortunately, it is limited to the Pixel 9 series at the moment, which may disappoint those hoping for broader compatibility.
Nevertheless, it adds an engaging layer of functionality to the watch and highlights its potential usefulness.
