OnePlus has recently reintroduced the OnePlus Watch 3 smartwatch in significant markets, including the United States, albeit with a dramatic price increase. The smartwatch was initially launched with a price tag of $329, but it is now being offered at $499 on the company’s website. This new pricing exceeds the original by more than 50%, and it is also considerably higher than the previously established pre-order price of $299. The launch of the OnePlus Watch 3 faced challenges due to a manufacturing mishap.

A typo in the engraving on the smartwatch’s backplate, where “Made in China” was mistakenly spelled as “Meda in China,” gained significant attention and overshadowed the product’s debut. As a result, OnePlus delayed the official open sales date until April. With the updated price now listed at $499, uncertainty surrounds whether this increase is a clerical error similar to the previous engraving mistake. OnePlus has been contacted regarding the price change, but they have not provided any comments or clarifications on the matter at this time.

Complications related to tariffs may also be influencing the price hike. Following recent adjustments in U.S. tariffs, particularly an increase to 125% on goods from China, OnePlus products, including the Watch 3, could be affected. However, it is notable that other OnePlus gadgets have not seen similar price increases. As we await clearer information from OnePlus regarding the pricing of the Watch 3, potential buyers are advised to hold off on purchases until an official statement is released.
