OnePlus has introduced a new battery charging limit feature for the OnePlus 13 smartphone as part of the Android 16 Beta 2 update. This functionality allows users to customize their charging limits between 80 percent and 100 percent in increments of 5 percent. The company is expected to include this feature for all users in a stable Android 16 update later this year.

The Android 16 Beta 2 update makes the OnePlus 13 the first non-Pixel device to receive this new firmware. Users testing this update can now set a battery charging limit directly on their devices. The enhancements in this latest update offer a more flexible approach to battery management, moving beyond the previous version, which only allowed users to set a maximum charge of 80 percent.

A screenshot shared on an unofficial OnePlus System Apps channel on Telegram demonstrates the new charging limit feature. With the Android 16 Beta 2 firmware, testers can select among four options for their charging limits. Previously, on the Android 15-based OxygenOS 15, OnePlus 13 users could only activate the 80 percent limit, achievable through the Settings menu under Battery and Battery Health.

This new charging feature aims to enhance battery longevity. By allowing users to set a lower maximum charging limit, OnePlus 13 owners may experience a reduction in battery aging over time. Once activated, the system will automatically restrict the charge to the selected limit, optimizing battery health.

For those who have installed the Android 16 Beta 2 update on their OnePlus 13, sharing experiences regarding the new firmware would be valuable in understanding its impact.
