Nintendo is introducing a range of new features to the Switch app, particularly aimed at enhancing the user experience for Switch 2 owners. One of the standout changes is the significantly simplified process for sharing in-game screenshots and video clips.

This update also includes unique features tailored for popular titles like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. For those unfamiliar with the previous sharing capabilities, sharing gameplay moments on the original Nintendo Switch was cumbersome.

Players could only share screenshots on social media—limited to Facebook—or manually transfer files from the console’s microSD card. This complicated process often discouraged players from sharing their exciting moments.

However, Nintendo is overhauling this experience with the Switch 2. The new version of the companion app will streamline the sharing process.

Rather than relying on complicated uploads or transfers, gamers will be able to directly upload screenshots and video clips to the app. This functionality mirrors that of the PlayStation app, allowing Switch 2 users to easily share content beyond just Facebook, including via text messages and platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, or even on X.

Additionally, the app will showcase the 100 most recent screenshots and video clips, a change from the previous model, which allows for easier tracking of recent gameplay moments.

While it may not match the more flexible time-based display of the PlayStation app, the improved usability should satisfy most players. The update also unveils a new Zelda Notes feature designed specifically for Zelda titles.

This feature enables players to receive guidance from Princess Zelda herself, making navigation in the games more intuitive. Furthermore, players will have the capability to share blueprints from Tears of the Kingdom with others, fostering community engagement while maintaining the necessity to gather resources for recreating those designs in their own gameplay.
