Android’s latest monthly security patch is being rolled out to eligible Galaxy mobile devices, with Samsung already distributing it to a range of phones, both new and older models. Notably, the Galaxy S20 series has started receiving the March 2025 security update.

Introduced in 2020, the Galaxy S20 lineup marked a significant shift in Samsung’s flagship naming convention. It was also notable for launching the first “Galaxy S Ultra” variant, which featured an industry-leading 200 MP main camera, a feature that turned heads in the tech community.

While the Galaxy S20 series does not benefit from Samsung’s newer software support policies—making it ineligible for One UI 7—it continues to receive crucial security updates. The last major operating system update for the series was Android 13-based One UI 15.

Currently, due to its age, the Galaxy S20 devices don’t receive monthly updates; instead, they are updated quarterly. The March 2025 security update has now arrived on schedule for this lineup.

Reports indicate that the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra are receiving the over-the-air (OTA) update in several regions. Some markets are seeing the new firmware on 5G variants, while others are limited to 4G models, highlighting that the Galaxy S20 was released during a time when 4G flagship devices were still prevalent.

As of now, the Galaxy S20 FE has not received the patch, although this may change soon. The March security update addresses a total of 58 vulnerabilities.

Most of these fixes, specifically 51, come from Google, targeting issues within the Android core, while Samsung contributes seven fixes related to its specific hardware and software.
