Motorola recently introduced its 2025 Razr lineup, including a new model called the Razr Ultra. This naming can be a bit misleading, as the Razr Plus is referred to as the Razr Ultra in international markets.

Thus, the US sees an “Ultra” addition while the rest of the world gets a “Plus.” Regardless, Motorola seems to be sending a strong message to Samsung by launching this model, especially as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is nearing its one-year mark.

For years, Motorola has outshined Samsung in one key area: the cover display. It was the first to feature a full-sized cover display on a flip phone, an innovation that Samsung attempted to replicate.

Even though the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to boast a larger cover display, Motorola’s Razr allows users to run any Android app on its cover display. In contrast, Samsung restricts usage to a limited selection of apps, available only as a “Labs” feature.

On the specifications front, Motorola has significantly upgraded its game by equipping the Razr Ultra with the latest Qualcomm chipset. Previously, the company used older Snapdragon versions, but now it’s harnessing power from the Snapdragon 8 Elite along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

While the Razr Ultra is priced higher at $1,299 compared to the Samsung model, it offers more memory and storage options. Additionally, Motorola has innovated in AI capabilities, including a dedicated AI Key on the device.

This integration aims to enhance user experience through intuitive tools developed alongside partnerships with major tech companies like Meta and Microsoft. Early impressions indicate that these AI features are user-friendly and beneficial, setting them apart from competitors.

Moreover, Motorola is making a statement with the Razr Ultra’s vibrant colors and materials. The phone is available in four unique options, catering to consumer preferences for bold designs.

With over 70% of the flip phone market share, it’s clear that Motorola’s appeal is resonating with users who value aesthetic variety.
