Google has been enhancing its “Freeplay” catalog for Google TV devices, which includes a variety of free channels for users. Recently, the tech giant updated this collection, adding several new free channels, many of which are tailored for children. The latest additions to the Freeplay catalog feature a delightful mix of content aimed at young audiences. The new kids’ channels include favorites like Sonic The Hedgehog, Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake, and Rainbow Rangers, alongside Xumo Free Kids TV.
Notably, there is also a dedicated channel that streams Baby Shark content around the clock. In total, Google has introduced nine additional free channels, with only three of them catering to adult viewers. For adult users, the new offerings include Filmrise: The New Detectives, Women Behind Bars, and Filmrise: Hot Ones. This expansion reflects Google TV’s ongoing effort to refresh its content lineup periodically.
With these updates, the Freeplay catalog now boasts more than 170 channels. As reported by 9to5Google, the “For You” tab on Google TV currently displays some of the newly added channels, though it seems some older channels have been removed as part of the refresh process. However, specific details about which channels were taken down remain unclear. It’s important to note that Google has not yet updated the official support page that lists all free channels, which still does not reflect the nine newly added channels.
Viewers should also be aware that advertisements are included during streaming on Freeplay channels. For users seeking even more free live content, apps such as Pluto TV, Plex, Haystack News, and Tubi can be downloaded, offering a broader selection of channels for Google TV devices.
