The OPPO Find N5 recently underwent a series of durability tests conducted by Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. While the device did not break apart completely, the main display suffered serious damage. The testing revealed issues even when the phone was closed, showing the vulnerabilities in its design.

The testing began with a display scratch test. The outer display sustained scratches at level 6, with deeper grooves appearing at level 7, which aligns with the performance of standard smartphones. However, the foldable inner display scratched at a concerning level 2, which is typical for foldable screens.

This low score indicates that users should exercise caution, as indentations from fingernails can occur. Zack tested the phone’s frame, constructed from aluminum, along with the hinge made from aluminum and titanium. The buttons are also metal, providing some durability.

The model tested featured a vegan leather back, typical for the Chinese variant; global versions have glass backs, which may perform differently. Under direct flame from a lighter, the outer display withstood 20 seconds before leaving a permanent mark, an interesting observation even if not part of regular daily use. In addition to the scratch tests, Zack introduced sand and tiny rocks to the equation, noting that the OPPO Find N5 is not dust resistant.

Users should be cautious, as such exposure could lead to future issues. The most surprising finding emerged during the bend test. When applying pressure to the closed phone, white bars appeared on the main display, indicating significant damage.

While the phone did not snap when open, it bent considerably, and additional pressure ultimately caused the main display to fail completely.
