Recent leaks indicate that Samsung is developing a new phone in its Galaxy XCover series, known for its rugged devices designed for adventurers and industrial settings. The XCover lineup is recognized for its durability, and now the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro has received FCC approval, signaling that a launch is imminent. This development may seem confusing as earlier reports suggested that Samsung was working on the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. However, the latest FCC listing categorizes the upcoming device as the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro.

This discrepancy in naming may indicate mixed messaging about the device’s identity. The alleged Galaxy XCover 8 Pro previously received certification from TUV Rheinland, featuring the model numbers SM-G766B, SM-G766U, SM-G766U1, and SM-G766W for various regional variants. While the device was identified as the XCover 8 Pro, the FCC listing for the SM-G766U model now names it the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro. Further confirming this is a detail in the battery case description, which refers to “XC7 Pro,” aligning with the new name.

Additionally, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro has passed Geekbench tests, revealing that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, with 6GB of RAM and Android 15 as the operating system. While it may not be a powerhouse, its specifications should provide adequate performance for most applications. Samsung may also roll out variants of the device with enhanced RAM options. Samsung launched the Galaxy XCover 7 in January 2024, featuring robust durability certifications like MIL-STD 810H and IP68.

Given that it has been over a year since that release, the introduction of its successor appears to be on the horizon.
